I've been thinking about some things, and it's come to my attention that we are - more or less - here to make everyone else unhappy. That sort of thing is usually frowned upon, isn't it? There are some new people that have arrived as well. So I'd like to ask you all, new or old:

Why are you here?

Why is everyone so willing to cause others misery for their own personal gain? What would make doing this sort of thing reasonable? Aren't we all just being selfish?

I'm sorry if this is intruding. This is probably a little bit hypocritical, but I'm asking out of personal interest. Please don't feel obliged to answer.

It is what it is--personal gain, and that alone is a reasonable decision. Without realizing it, you answered your own question. But selfish? Honestly... is using someone to further yourself really so bad? Your altruism isn't meant to work here, unless you plan on sacrificing yourself for other people's happiness.

If you still don't agree with it, what are you doing to change it? Nothing? That's what I thought... Did you really plan to convince others to change their minds with an anonymous text to everyone here?

I can't say that I disagree with you. I suppose it's a bit of a moral conflict when you put it like that. There are some more willing than others to victimize people-- I just wanted to see why that was. Maybe I should have worded it differently.

But.. I wasn't really planning on changing people's minds. Blind optimism doesn't get you far.

Saying it, even if not necessarily out loud... it's a gesture she feels she needs to make. For herself, because she's still selfish at her core, but doing things even for herself was a step up from doing nothing, ever. Maybe this way, in little bursts, she can learn how to be a person. ]
