[And here goes any semblance of having a peaceful Sunday afternoon as the so-far meek and quiet Tomoko Oashi suddenly becomes not so meek and quiet.]
WHAT KIND OF PERSON DYES UNDERWEAR ORANGE?! YOU CAN'T JUST GO AROUND TAKING OTHER PEOPLE'S UNDERWEAR! I-IT'S WRONG! WHOEVER DID THIS...
WHOEVER DID THIS IS A PERVERT!
[Sounds like someone got to her laundry.]

They're strangers, aren't they? Even if they are your room mates, do you think they would pass up access to easy points if given the chance? It's a shame, truly, but you should think about it.

[Well, the two guys were, since she'd been terrified of them. The other girl in there just wanted pudding.]
...so I didn't think... [Of course she didn't. She never does! Stupid, stupid, stupid.] Um. Y-yeah. I'll keep it in mind.

there's a sympathetic-sounding hum from his end, and not an ounce of mockery or blame in his tone when he speaks.]
Everyone makes mistakes and no one goes through their entire life perfectly judging everyone, so you aren't at fault here. It's just a good thing to remember in case the city does get more dangerous.
no subject
I hope it doesn't. It's suddenly too dangerous as it is!

There's that saying... "Hope for the best but prepare for the worst". It's smart to keep things from taking you by surprise just because you've wanted to turn a blind eye to it. After all, dyed clothing is aggravating and a breach of privacy is no laughing matter, but it isn't deadly.

Um. S-so, you mean it'll be easier to handle if I just expect everything to get worse? Isn't that depressing?
no subject
It's only depressing if you allow that train of thought to consume you. It is possible to prepare for something without letting it bother you, you know. Think of it like bringing an umbrella to a picnic because the forecast said there might be rain. You have the umbrella with you, so there's no need to obsess over the reason you have it, right? Just having it is good enough. [just replace 'umbrella' with something like 'knife' or some other self-defense weapon! what a great analogy.]

People aren't rain, though...

That was just a comparative example. Simply put, if you have a reason to suspect something bad might happen and prepare for it in advance, you won't have to worry about it as much.
no subject
O-oh. And that really works...?

no subject
Um. If you say so.
